By now, many of you may have heard the news that our 2019 School Psychology Ed.S. alumni, Jacob Faltin, passed away tragically in a house fire on Sunday, January 14. Our faculty were so saddened to hear the news and were devastated for the community, where he worked, and for his husband. He had developed a positive and meaningful life in Ottawa, IL. Jacob worked for the L.E.A.S.E. Special Education coop in Ottawa, IL. He served three districts plus an alternative school. A colleague wrote, “Jacob was truly one of the kindest human beings you could ever meet. He went out of his way to greet you and had an infectious smile! It was a joy to work with him and a honor that he was part of our L.E.A.S.E family.”

Jacob was a source of optimism and was a strong advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. He will be greatly missed.
